Thank you for the love , just a few words about Group B Strep & hemiplegia

Thank you !

Thank you so much to everyone for your kindness and lovely messages.
We've been very busy!
Thank you to those who told the true story but also thanks to those who used a big dose of artistic license to spice up their stories.
We weren't very happy about some articles  but as these articles have helped to increase awareness of Group B Strep Meningitis we are at least happy about that.
Tommy now has hemiplegia cerebral palsy and a cyst on his brain after his battle with GBS.
It really was a fight for his life.
A lot of people have asked what happened to Tommy and we would like to explain more here.
Tommy was born at exactly 39 weeks of pregnancy.
Unfortunately my waters broke and Tommy wasn't ready to be born .
The hospital did not give me antibiotics or deliver Tommy .
Unknown to myself I was a carrier of the Group B Strep virus and the NHS don't test for this , despite lots of babies becoming very sick or dying every year .
I was left for 5 days after my waters had been confirmed broken by a midwife and doctor before he was delivered by c-section.
Tommy was born with an apgar score of 1.
This is very bad and he wasn't breathing and needed some serious intervention and intensive care and ventilation.
It is a miracle he is alive today and had a very rough first 18 months.
Lots of therapies and intervention that wasn't nice for him at all.
He did eventually learn to walk but still can't walk for long distances or run as fast as other children.
He has problems with his fine motor skills ,balance and concentration.
At school he has a lap top to help him because he finds gripping a pencil difficult .
Walking and using his hands causes pain , stiffness and spasms but he is doing so well and pushing himself to try new things ( he taught himself to swim last year and is like a little fish now ) he is like a different child .
Tommy will describe having hemiplegia as a feeling of heaviness in his limbs and twitching pain.
Although he gets on with life this is what he will live with for life.
Unless you know him and know his story you really wouldn't know that he had been through so much in his short life and that he had to try so much harder than other kids to achieve simple things.
He really is a miracle.
Little things like doing up buttons or a zip are a big challenge for Tommy and of course some things
will always be but he won't let that hold him back .
We are so proud of Tommy.
He is a kind, sweet and brave boy who has the heart of warrior and is as stubborn as a mule.
This is why he has achieved so much and never given up.
I know he will have hemiplegia for life but I also know that he will continue to push himself and achieve more and more.
He has improved so much in the last year and it has been wonderful to see.
We are so proud to call this polite little gentleman our son .

The truth about Tom and Bobo

Setting the story straight

It has come me to my attention that lots of stories are circulating on the news media and blogs online about Tommy Jones ( my 8 year old son ) and Bobo ( his chihuaha)
Tommy does have hemiplegia cerebral palsy, he did have Group strep B meningitis at birth and he does struggle to do things that other children take for granted ( like riding a regular bike, running  or writing because of muscle spasms and stiffness)
Bobo did suffer a serverly broken leg soon AFTER he came to live with us because the vet misdiagnosed it and he did require more than one surgery to save his leg.
After a lot of money and love the leg was saved but is completely fused , so he can't bend it at all but he gets around on the pinned leg just fine.
He might not be able to go for huge walks , the same as Tommy and the two of them have been a huge comfort to each other .
Tommy has struggled with lots of things and feeling different to other kids and having Bo has certainly helped him cope mentally.
I would like to state categorically that Tonmy had been walking for several years before Bo came to live with us.
As one online publication falsely stated they literally took their first steps together, it's nonsense.
Absolutely rubbish to suggest that our son who is 8 has only just started to walk.

Super dog to the rescue......

Is it a bird ? Is it a plane ? No it's Super Dog!

We had a lovely walk on the beach today.
Dolly refused to walk and mummy had to carry her for 3 miles.
It's a good job she only weighs 2.3 kg !
When we came home I got to play dress up with my boys.
I love the Super Dog outfit but what you can't see from these pictures is when Marley the rabbit took revenge on me for chasing him last week ( I was very bad and corned him and he went into shock, the vet said he is lucky to have survived. I didn't hurt him but really scared him a lot ) he jumped on me and gave me a rabbit drop kick which really hurt and made me squeal .
I will not mess with that rabbit ever again .
I have learnt my lesson the hard way . Rabbits don't like to play chase like dogs do.

Chihuaha love x

True love conquers all!

Hello friends I've had such a busy week and now have over ten thousand fans on Instagram!
Thank you so much to everyone who has followed me .
I'm happy to have so many lovely new friends.
Today we are going for a walk little drive and a run out on the beach with Mimi and Dolly.
Dolly is very shy and doesn't like meeting new people and is really scared of other dogs, so we are trying really hard to get her to make friends.
I love to meet new people and dogs and so does Mimi.
Paws crossed Dolly will learn to have fun so but she's only a baby so we have lots of time.
Yesterday we had a lazy day and snuggled up in bed and did absolutely nothing.
I love my Mimi very much.

Bobo loves dress up !

Dress up fun

Bo absolutely loves playing dress up and games with the kids.
He especially likes to play on the jungle gym and to play soldiers with the boys but he's always getting into trouble for sneaking into the playroom and chewing up the toys or sleeping on the teddies and soft toys.
Such a naughty boy.
Here are some pictures of his antics from the last few days.

Bobo is a champion gurner ( face puller to non Brits lol )

Cheeky chops!

Usually Bo loves dressing up but yesterday we tried on this new Tontoro lion outfit I had bought and he hated it!
I think it was the face on the hood .
Actually I think it is the cutest outfit he has now and when it's cold he will be very grateful that his bony little body is wrapped in this soft fluffiness.
Here are some funny pictures of the faces he pulled whilst wearing it .
If looks could kill ....

I think he wanted to bite me haha ......

Looking after my boy

My little human needs lots of love today

My pet human is feeling very poorly today.
He is not well and I'm going to stay right beside him in case he needs me.
My little guy is extra special as he has very special needs and can't talk or do things for himself like other kids can do.
When he is unwell I like to look after him.
Here are some cute pictures of me as a puppy.
I'm grown up now and have two daughters of my own but my human pup is my favourite still.

This is me and my daughter Dolly.
